The Charlotte Auburn Club is a proud supporter of the Carolina Raptor Center located in Huntersville, NC! We are currently in the process of working with them to set up ways to volunteer at the center, adopt a bird and have a cage built! The Carolina Raptor Center is dedicated to environmental stewardship and the conservation of birds of prey through research, education and the rehabilitation of injured raptors. For more information about the Carolina Raptor Center, check out their website:
Thank you to those who participated in our first AU Alumni in Action Community Service Event! Those who participated in this service opportunity spent their morning working with raptors by assisting with feedings, cleaning cages, help clearing trails, and doing some landscaping around the aviaries. AUsome job everyone!
Aubie (seen above), the Mississippi Kite, is a native of Auburn, Alabama. He has lived at Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville, NC, since 2008. Mississippi kites are not generally found in the Carolinas – except for in coastal areas during migration, however, there have been recent sightings in Charlotte, NC, around the SouthPark area. Aubie was named by CRC supporter and proud Auburn University alumna Jeannie Moore.
